Our candidate will have:

• Completed a Veterinary Technologist or Animal Health Technology program.
• Exceptional organizational skills
• More than 5 years experience in clinical practice
• The desire to oversee, train, mentor colleagues.
• Surgical preparation, assisting and patient recovery.
• Ability to keep detailed and accurate patient records.
• Compassionate care for our hospitalized patients and their pet parents
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to problem-solve or the ability to ask clarifying questions to help you find solutions.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills in working with your colleagues and clients.

Black Mountain Veterinary Hospital is a busy 2 vet practice where an enthusiasm to learn and develop skills is an asset. Duties:

• Assist veterinarians in providing medical and surgical care to animals.
• Training, mentoring vet assistants, new graduates, other RVT’s
• Collection of blood samples
• Perform laboratory tests and analyze samples.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
• Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures.
• Preparing medications and supplies for clients to take home
• Take and develop x-rays.
• Monitor and record vital signs of animals.
• Handling and maintaining specialized equipment, including setup, cleaning and sterilization.
• Knowledge of animal behavior and anatomy
• Clean and maintain equipment and work areas.
• Client communication, education, and appointment schedule management
• Educate pet owners on proper animal care and treatment.
• Restrain and lifting of patients
• Positive outlook and enthusiasm for learning
• Demonstrate initiative in carrying out assignments independently
• Leadership capacity to work collaboratively with the entire team
