Job Summary:
This position is a full-time position focusing on bovine reproduction. The position will include working
closely with both our semen production team and embryo production team. Tasks will vary day to day,
however will include daily work with cattle. Due to the nature of reproduction work some weekend
work may be required. Flexible schedule available during off season, longer hours may be required
during busy season.

Animal Care Technician Responsibilities:

 Assisting with OPU and In Vivo Collections
 Assisting with freezing in vitro and in vivo embryos
 Thawing embryos and preparing pipettes for fresh and frozen embryo transfers
 Producing and maintaining donor and recipient records
 Travel to farms to assist with donor collections and embryo transfers.
 Assisting with bull semen collections via electroejaculation and natural collection
 Assisting with semen processing/ freezing and caning
 Maintaining frozen genetic inventory
 Performing health tests on donor cows and bulls
 Equipment cleaning and maintenance
 Client communication

Education and Qualifications/ Skill Requirements:

  • High school diploma is a minimum requirement, preference given to Registered Veterinary Technicians and Animal Science graduates.
  • Cattle handling experience is required
  •  Very strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, MS excel, email)
  • Effective communication skills
